Vandergrift Goes Hollywood
April 30th, 2010

Washington Avenue, Vandergrift
Vandergrift will be a central site for the filming of a new DreamWorks film called I Am Number IV. The movie’s creative team was drawn to Vandergrift because the firm of Frederick Law Olmsted designed the town. Olmsted is considered the father of American landscape architecture and is responsible for the design of New York City’s Central Park.
Because of Olmsted’s influence, Vandergrift has curving streets and unique architectural features to match. All of these creative elements went into the design of a community that was meant to be “a workingman’s paradise.” In an interesting case of irony, Vandergrift will become Paradise, Ohio when movie crews come for the filming in late May.
The Borough of Vandergrift, Vandergrift Improvement Program, Victorian Vandergrift Museum and Historical Society, Casino Theatre Restoration and Management, businesses, and residents welcome the cast and crew of I Am Number IV and encourage others to visit the community of Vandergrift.
