The thirteenth annual Art in the Kitchen Tasting Tour, a project of the Women’s Committee of the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, will be held Saturday, October 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This self-driving tour lets you enjoy five residential kitchens in the beautiful, historic towns of Greensburg, Latrobe and Ligonier.

The Kitchen Tasting Tour was initiated as an adjunct to the Women’s Committee cookbook, “Art in the Kitchen,” published in 1995. The food samplings available at each stop are delicious recipes from the cookbook. In addition, ticket holders receive a guidebook that includes a favorite recipe from each of the day’s hosts.

This year’s kitchen hosts are:

In Greensburg

Rachel and Alex Byers - This functional family kitchen has a Tuscany flavor and a display of faux art replicating mosaic tile.

Nancy and Tom Ferree - Newer construction on a wooded lot, this home features a large kitchen designed and built for a growing family

Melanie Alexander - Located on a knoll in a wooded lot, this home evokes serenity. The small kitchen is a labor of love by the owner who has done most of renovations herself.

In Latrobe

Janine and Terry Hatten - Located in Palmer Place, this kitchen features candlelight cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, granite coutertops, lighted island and dry bar. The new construction in Palmer Place will give participants great ideas for their own kitchen projects.

In Ligonier

Susan and Fred Schultz. - The kitchen of this historical house has been enhanced with mission-style cherry cabinets, wainscoting and black appliances

Ticket sales for the kitchen tour are limited. Tickets are $25 and available at the following Greensburg locations: The Earnest Gourmet, Urania Avenue and the Museum Shop at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art. In Ligonier, tickets may be purchased at Ligonier Outfitters on the Diamond. Day of event tickets are only available at the Museum from 9 AM to Noon.

Proceeds benefit the Museum, which opened in 1959 and is noted for its collection of American art, and, in particular, the works of Southwestern Pennsylvania artists. For additional information, call 724-837-1500, ext. 33 or access the web site: www.wmuseumaa.org.
