Celebrate the 3rd annual Farm Festival with Maggie’s Mercantile June 20th at 7686 Route 819 Hunker, PA. Those who are as enthusiastic as us about organic, vegan, vegetarian, and raw food are encouraged to come and support the local farming festival. Enjoy the sounds of local bands, activities for children and food from vegan vendors.
The Farm Festival will include a variety of guests and events such as:
• Derrick Jensen, our keynote speaker, is an internationally known activist and author of Endgame, The Culture of Make Believe, and A Language Older than Words. Jensen was named one of the Utne Reader’s “50 Visionary Who Are Changing your World.” and won the Eric Hoffer Award in 2008. He is also an author for the New York Times Magazine, Audubon, and The Sun Magazine.
• Jim Donovan, formerly of Rusted Root will be holding two drumming sessions and will perform with his band, “Drum the Ecstatic.”
• James LaVeck and Jenny Stein, documentary filmmakers and animal rights activists as well as co-founders of Tribe of Heart and producers of award-winning The Witness and Peaceable Kingdom.
• Rob Barron, Local food expert and general manager of the East End Food Co-op in Pittsburgh, PA.
