Get a Preview of the Johnstown Children’s Museum

Stop by the new Children’s Museum in the Heritage Discovery Center, located in Johnstown. On Sunday, June 14 from 1:00-5:00 pm, visitors will have the opportunity to walk through the entire building and take a look at all the exciting things being offered at the Heritage Discovery Center.
Preview event will feature:
• “Mystery of Steel” film presentation in the Iron & Steel Gallery
• Temporary exhibit about the Johnstown Discovery Network in the
2nd floor galleries
• James V. Saly Courtyard: displays on the educational workshop program, information on JAHA memberships, and balloon artist Paul Marsh
• Johnstown Children’s Museum (3rd floor)
• “Made In Johnstown” exhibit in the 5th-floor galleries
• The new exhibit, “Growing Up in Johnstown - 1860-1960,” featuring photographs and artifacts on the theme of childhood in Johnstown

About the Johnstown Children’s Museum:
The Johnstown Children’s Museum is a 7,000-square-foot facility located on the third floor of the Frank & Sylvia Pasquerilla Heritage Discovery Center. Exhibits are themed on Johnstown’s history, culture, ecology, geography, and industry. As a sign welcoming visitors reads, “Where we live shapes who we are. Who we are shapes where we live.” The Johnstown Children’s Museum and “Mystery of Steel” will be open for regular business starting on Monday, June 15.
Highlights of the Children’s Museum exhibits include:
• A water room, covering themes like plumbing, dams, acid rain, native fish and more
• A rooftop garden with displays of native plants
• The “Inclimber,” a climbing structure based on Yoder Hill, featuring coal mines and more
• The Mix-Master Studio, where kids can play with the sounds “hear” in Johnstown
