June 2nd, 2009

Founded in 1972, Touchstone Center for Crafts in Farmington is a unique three-season crafts school preserving traditional mountain crafts and experimenting in contemporary techniques. Areas such as blacksmithing, ceramics, metals, textiles, glass, oil and watercolor painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture are taught at Touchstone.
Touchstone has recently honored Jim Campbell for his longstanding support and aptitude as a metalsmith at the annual Hammer-In festival held at the Hart Moore Blacksmith Forge on the wooded campus.
In 1977, Campbell began his involvement at Touchstone by enrolling in a blacksmithing class. His natural aptitude at metalsmithing propelled him into some prestigious organizations, including Appalachian Blacksmith Association and Pittsburgh Area Artist Blacksmith Association. Campbell has been a manager at Touchstone for 30 years, playing an influential role since the beginning. Read the full story about Jim Campbell and Touchstone Center for Crafts at the Tribune Review
