Celebrate Great Outdoors Week
May 14th, 2009
The Laurel Highlands invites you to participate in all of the outdoor adventure activities we offer in honor of the Great Outdoors Week celebration, sponsored by Venture Outdoors, which offers outings designed for the appreciation of the environment and wilderness. From the Laurel Highlands trails, to the waters of Ohiopyle and even the Bear Run Nature Reserve, which offers over 5,000 acres of mountain land and more than 20 miles of trails for hiking, nature study, and backpacking, there are activities for everyone to enjoy. Go birding, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing, and get hiking, biking and rock climbing.
Venture Outdoors is sponsoring outdoor activities over the weekend in the Laurel Highlands, which include overnight hiking and backpacking along the Laurel Highlands trail, fly fishing classes at Ohiopyle and a 22-mile round trip bike ride on the Great Allegheny Passage. Their experienced volunteer trip leaders will guide you through the region’s streams, trails, forests and parks. For more details on Great Outdoors Week and group adventure activities visit wallsarebad.com or ventureoutdoors.org.
Wind down from the outdoor activities on May 24th at Polymath Park with a walking tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Duncan House, Balter House and Blum House and enjoy a lakeside catered picnic at Polymath Park.
