You and the kids wake up to a pouring rain storm and your outdoor plans just went out the window. What do you do with the unhappy faces? There are a ton of neat things to see and do in the Laurel Highlands on a rainy day and here are some great suggestions for you and your family.

Located off Route 30 east in Greensburg. Older kids will have a blast at the world’s largest paintball park. All the gear, paintball guns and paint pellets are available for rent for this very cool course.

Living Treasures Animal Park

Put your rain gear on and pet, feed and enjoy hundreds of friendly, healthy animals including monkeys, white tigers, birds, and bears from all over the world. Younger children will love the Petting Zoo with many gentle baby animals to pet. Located at the junction of Routes 31 & 381 in Donegal.

Children’s Museum at Heritage Discovery Center

The newly opened Children’s Museum at the Heritage Discovery Center in Johnstown combines fun and Johnstown’s history, culture, geography and geology. The interactive museum has everything from a climbing wall which features a working Inclined Plane and a slide that lands kids in a padded coal cart to a hands-on water room that includes wetlands, dam building and fishing.

Explore Pennsylvania’s largest cave and play a round of Kavernputt - an eighteen-hole miniature golf course in a ten thousand square foot simulated cave! The kids will love it! Just off Route 40 in Farmington close to Uniontown.

The WildSide
